Doom Scrawl: Plot of Worst Year, 2020, Could Have Used Some Plausibility Rewrites
Posted December 15, 2020 at 12:01 am

This is the last Corgi Boss update for 2020! It’s been quite a year. I obviously won’t recap the hellish existence we’ve all been through, but I will instead mention that Corgi Boss had a fairly productive year in spite of everything. In addition to wondering why I still exist every morning as the abyss and I gaze at each other, I posted 43 updates to this comic strip over the course of 2020.

Of those 43 updates, very few if any have blog posts such as the one you’re reading right now. So, I still have some things to work on for 2021.

Within those updates, I finished one story arc from 2019 (“Reorganized Crime”), began and completed 2020 (“Short Detention Span”), and started one that will continue in 2021 (“Corgantine”). As a result, my original characters have been through a lot this year. They have dated creepy Presidential advisors, almost been murdered by dude-bro feminist mobsters, been detained as an undocumented alien, lived in cages with oddly precocious children, got together with demonic exes, and been terrified by an out-of-control dog virus. Whew!

My methods for making the comic have varied less so. I’m still doing pencils and inks in, as a cyberpunk hero or heroine might say, the meat-space. That’s not a space in your freezer for storing ground beef but merely the real world where I use a mechanical pencil, a brush, a bottle of ink, and couple of microns to start each strip. Coloring is digital. Despite the little variation in tools and methods, I must say I’ve been liking the looks of things more and more. I’m looking forward to what this comic will look like in 2021.

Anyway, I thought I’d check-in. I hope the holidays are treating all of you well. Thanks for reading, and see you in 2021.
