As a member of an elite cadre of webcomic artists, I can tell you that my point of view on the world is something that you should value. In fact, it may change your perspective or even your life for the better. At least that’s what I’d be telling you if I was writing my own confessional think-piece here for you. It’s not that I hate all think pieces or that they can’t change your point of view. It’s just that anything that happens in the news (literally anything) can trigger an avalanche of think-pieces that are either so idiosyncratic or bland as to be lacking in value. Not only that, but you also feel like authors choose absurd arguments for their articles simply to get published as this tweet makes clear.
This often happens when I’m still just trying to find out the basic facts of a story. It’s often not what you want, but what you get since there fill up your news and Twitter feeds. The ending is that as Mary promises, I find out more about the author than I do about what’s actually happening!
